Comeback kills Laurel Auto Group’s hopes in 9-8 loss to Martella’s Pharmacy

Laurel Auto Group lost 9-8 on Saturday after a surprise rally turned a three-run ninth inning advantage into a Martella’s Pharmacy victory at Point Stadium.

Martella’s Pharmacy was sparked by McMillen and Anthony Fanelli, who teamed up for nine hits and two RBIs.

Matt Kochasic ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

Laurel Auto Group jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Laurel Auto Group’s rally started when Nick Vento singled. A single by Logan Urtz then moved Nick Vento from first to second. Mike Nowicki doubled, bringing home Nick Vento and Urtz.

After posting one run in the third, Laurel Auto Group again scored one in the fifth. In the third, Laurel Auto Group scored on a groundout by Zac Heide, scoring Nick Vento.

Martella’s Pharmacy scored three runs of its own in the fifth. Martella’s Pharmacy scored on a two-run double by Gully and a groundout by Nate Negri.

Laurel Auto Group pushed across two runs in both the sixth inning and the eleventh. In the sixth, Laurel Auto Group scored on a wild pitch, bringing home Derrick Zavatsky.

Martella’s Pharmacy never trailed after scoring three runs in the eleventh on a sacrifice fly by Gully and three singles.
