Turkey hunter’s clinic at Stackhouse Park

A spring turkey hunter’s clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15 at the fireplace pavilion of Stackhouse Park, 998 Luzerne St., Westmont.

The clinic will cover scouting and hunting tactics, safety and ethics, bow hunting in the classic tradition, calls and calling, and camouflage.

Instructors will be Tom Hindman, Mike Horst and Mary Jo Casalena of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

All participants must preregister and participation is limited to 25 students.

Registration is $15 per person and youths ages 18 and younger are free.

Lunch will be provided.

The clinic is sponsored by Allegheny Plateau, National Wild Turkey Federation; National Rifle Association; and Powell Stackhouse Park Inc.

Friday

Delweld 19, First Commonwealth 0 (5): Eric Weyant (4-for-4) and Ian Helsel (3-for-3) each scored four runs as Delweld pounded out a five-inning win over First Commonwealth Bank at Roxbury Park. Ben Legath swatted a two-run home run in the third and was part of a quartet of Delweld batters with two RBI, joining Zach Solarczyk, Josh Robinette and Marcus Shippey.

Josh Staniscia had two hits in the win.

John Pudliner and Travis Antolik each had a hit for First Commonwealth, which was limited to two hits by Delweld’s Nate Plummer.

Berkley Hills Renegades 4, Martella’s Pharmacy 1: Brett Marabito was 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Berkley Hills Renegades topped Martella’s Pharmacy at Point Stadium. Ryan D’Andrea picked up the complete-game win, striking out seven and allowing the lone Martella’s Pharmacy run in the fourth.

Thursday

Berkley Hills Renegades 5, Laurel Auto Group 4: The Renegades overcame a four-run deficit to turn away Laurel Auto Group at Point Stadium. Dan Gray had two RBI and drove in the game-winning run with a walk-off single in the seventh. Dylin Brooks had two hits in the win.

Laurel Auto Group’s Anthony Piccolini was 2-for-3.

American Legion

St. Michael 13, Portage 4: In Portage, Joe Donoughe doubled twice and scored three runs in support of his complete-game effort on the mound as the Saints topped Portage. Jared Baker scored two runs for St. Michael, which received two hits apiece from Spencer Ivock, Bryan Miller and Colin Smay.

Donoughe scattered five hits with Brandon Vocco’s double serving as Portage’s lone extra-base hit.

Patton 6, Cernic’s 2: In Johnstown, Dom Milanesi had three hits and reached base safely in all four plate appearances as Patton beat Cernic’s at Franklin Field.

Nate Bearer pitched six innings for Patton (2-0) and Adam Polites pitched the seventh. They combined on a six-hitter. Josh Serafin added two hits for Patton.

Hunter Bizak and PC Callahan had two hits apiece for Cernic’s.
