Laurel Auto Group tops Martella’s Pharmacy in back-and-forth affair, 7-6

After five lead changes in Thursday’s game, Laurel Auto Group finally pulled out a 7-6 win over Martella’s Pharmacy.

Laurel Auto Group finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. A passed ball scored Nick Vento to give Laurel Auto Group the lead for good.

Laurel Auto Group staved off Martella’s Pharmacy as Martella’s Pharmacy was unable to match Laurel Auto Group down the stretch.

Martella’s Pharmacy scored three runs in the seventh on a two-run error and a fielder’s choice. Despite its efforts, Martella’s Pharmacy couldn’t finish the comeback.

Matt Kochasic recorded the win for Laurel Auto Group even though he allowed six runs over seven innings. Matt Kochasic struck out one, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Laurel Auto Group was sparked by Zac Heide and Logan Urtz, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.

Bearer took the loss for Martella’s Pharmacy. He allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out five.

Laurel Auto Group closer Mike Nowicki put away the final six outs to record the save.

The top of the first saw Laurel Auto Group take an early lead, 1-0. A triple by Urtz, scoring Ben Webb started the inning off.

It didn’t take long for Martella’s Pharmacy to answer as it scored one run of its own in the first. Martella’s Pharmacy scored on an RBI double by Kyle Morrow.

Laurel Auto Group never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning. The runs piled on thanks to an RBI double by Derrick Zavatsky and an RBI single by Urtz.
