Laurel Auto Group falls 9-1 to Martella’s Pharmacy despite Cory Wheeler’s effort

Laurel Auto Group wound up on the wrong side of a 9-1 score on Saturday at Point Stadium, tasting defeat at the hands of Martella’s Pharmacy.

Justin Vardian recorded the win for Martella’s Pharmacy. He allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, walked five and surrendered three hits.

Martella’s Pharmacy’s Ian Helsel, Wukich and Jack Shirk combined for six hits and three RBIs.

Matt Douglas took the loss for Laurel Auto Group. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

Martella’s Pharmacy brought home three runs in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fourth, Martella’s Pharmacy scored on a two-run single by Dillion Boyer, plating Nemo Trexler and Wukich.

The sixth inning saw Laurel Auto Group score its only run on the day on a bases loaded walk by Vardian.
