Luke Smeltz did all he could to give Laurel Auto Group a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Martella’s Pharmacy, as Laurel Auto Group lost 4-3 in seven innings at Point Stadium on Tuesday.

Smeltz racked up two RBIs on one hit for Laurel Auto Group. He tripled in the fourth inning.

Justin Vardian got the win in relief for Martella’s Pharmacy. Vardian pitched one inning and allowed no runs.

Martella’s Pharmacy was sparked by Ian Helsel and Nate Negri, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.

Carlo Kazmierczyk was charged with the loss. He lasted just 6 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the third saw Martella’s Pharmacy take an early lead, 2-0. Martella’s Pharmacy’s rally started when Nemo Trexler singled. A groundout by Brian Buzie then moved Trexler from first to second. Helsel doubled, bringing home Trexler. Martella’s Pharmacy then tacked on more runs when Helsel scored on an RBI single by Negri.
