Laurel Auto Group defeats Ophthalmic Associates after late game single, 3-2

Laurel Auto Group and Ophthalmic Associates traded the lead five times on Wednesday, but Laurel Auto Group ended up on top with a 3-2 win in seven innings over Ophthalmic Associates.

Laurel Auto Group pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. Laurel Auto Group scored on an RBI single by Nico Pecora off Hogue, scoring Alex DiRienzo.

Luke Smeltz was solid at the plate for Laurel Auto Group. Smeltz went 3-4 and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.

Tyler Tubbs baffled Ophthalmic Associates, striking out six batters. Tyler Tubbs allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk over six innings.

Austin Sleek got the win in relief for Laurel Auto Group. Sleek pitched one inning and allowed no runs.

Hogue was charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed three runs.

In the bottom of the first, Laurel Auto Group grabbed the early lead, 1-0.
